December 04, 2023 - The "No Burn Order" for the State of Alabama has been removed due to improving conditions.
November 01, 2023 - ADEM Summer Burning Restrictions are no longer in effect as of 11/01/2023. An Alabama Forestry Fire Alert is still in effect and no burn permits will be issued until conditions have improved and no alerts/warnings are active by Alabama Forestry and/or the National Weather Service.
September 09, 2023 - Westover was awarded a FY2022 FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant to purchase a new pumper fire truck in the amount of $650,000.00.

July 14, 2023 - A change will occur in our email system that will update/change all current email addresses in August 2023. Current email address will remain active for a period of time but will be phased out.

Open Burning Burn permits are required on all open burning within the city limits of Westover. Open burning is defined as any burning that takes place outside of an approved fire pit or outdoor fireplace. If the burn location is located within a neighborhood, the permit applicant must provide proof that the residential covenant of the neighborhood allows open burning prior to one being issued. All burns must be attended by an adult andONLY natural vegetation, wood, or brush can be burned (no trash, tires, plastics, etc.). No burn permits will be issued during a red flag warning, fire danger advisory and/or fire alert, drought emergency, or during the summer burn restriction.The summer burn restriction is issued annually by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) from May 1st till October 31st in an effort to protect air quality in areas of the state that have had a history of air pollution problems. Fire and EMS Service Contracts Westover Municipal Fire Department provides services to areas outside the municipal bounds of the city coverage area through service contracts. Contracts run January 1st through December 31st each year and are not prorated.
