About our Fire Department
The Westover Municipal Fire Department provides fire and medical services to approximately 25 square miles along the US Hwy 280 corridor in northeastern Shelby County. The coverage area includes all the municipal limits of Westover, as well as areas of unincorporated Shelby County. The department is a combination of paid and unpaid professionals that strive to provide the highest quality fire and EMS services on a 24-hour, 7-days a week basis and to prepare volunteer and career personnel for certification.

The efforts of the fire department personnel have resulted in the Insurance Safety Office (ISO) issuing a protection rating of 3/3X in 2015 and 2021, representing a significant improvement from a 7/9 rating, which had been assigned at the time of creation of the Municipal Fire Department in 2007. ISO ratings are on a scale of 1-10, 1 being the absolute best rating possible and 10 being the worst. We are all extremely proud of the rating improvement and we are happy to provide property owners with ISO documentation for their insurance companies. This rating should improve insurance premiums.
